Luke Gallagher re-signs for Drogheda

Drogheda United have announced the re-signing of Luke Gallagher ahead of the 2018 season.

The 23-year-old joined Drogheda in 2016 and played every minute of the league season as the Boynesiders were promoted via the playoffs.

He scored once in the 2016 season, in a 2-0 victory at home to Waterford in July.

Gallagher – who can play in midfield – has primarily played in the centre of defence for Drogheda and he re-signed with the Louth side ahead of their return to the Premier Division in 2017.

The 2017 season saw Gallagher make 28 appearances in all competitions, including 25 league appearances.

Prior to signing with Drogheda in 2016, Gallagher had briefly played for Shelbourne in 2014 following his release from Burnley.

He then signed for Bray in 2015 and made 13 league appearances before signing for O’Devaney Dunard at the end of the season and then making the move to Drogheda.

Gallagher now becomes manager Tim Clancy’s tenth signing for 2018 and was the third re-signing confirmed on Sunday following the earlier announcement that Mark Doyle and Stephen Meaney had signed new deals with the club.
