Dundalk secure Murray for 2018 season

Dundalk manager Stephen Kenny has secured the signature of form striker Ronan Murray for the upcoming 2018 season.

Murray was one of the few shining lights in what was an otherwise bleak season for Galway United last year. Murray, 26, attracted suitors from across the league despite his side’s slow and steady slide into relegation.

Galway struggled badly for goals, finding themselves picking up points one-by-one following a glut of drawn games. Murray still managed to bag himself 17 goals in 38 appearances making him one of the most sought after commodities in the domestic game.

Murray spent time plying his trade across the water with both Ipswich Town and Notts County as well as loan spells at Torquay United, Swindon Town and Plymouth Argyle.

Upon his arrival at Galway he began to turn heads immediately. No doubt Kenny was one of the interested parties from the outset.

Murray is likely to replace David McMillan in the Dundalk starting eleven should Kenny’s current number nine make the move to Scottish side St. Johnstone.

Kenny has a proven track record of developing talent but if McMillan is to leave he will be hoping Murray can hit the ground running.
