Bohemians re-sign former Celtic keeper as Chris Bennion joins coaching staff

Bohemians have re-signed former Celtic goalkeeper Colin McCabe for the 2018 season and announced the appointment of Chris Bennion as goalkeeping coach.

Cavan native McCabe arrived at the tail end of last season as cover for the injured Greg Murray and appeared on the bench seven times before making his full debut against Finn Harps on the final day.

The 20-year-old, who has had two spells on loan with Scottish League Two side Stenhousemuir, was on the books with Celtic before returning to Ireland in August.

McCabe will benefit from the experience of former Shelbourne, Dundalk and Middlesbrough keeper Bennion.

The 37-year-old spent last season as goalkeeping coach with Drogheda United but departed along with the majority of the coaching staff following their relegation.

Bohs now have 18 players signed up for 2018: Oscar Brennan, Dan Byrne, Dan Casey, Dinny Corcoran, Rob Cornwall, Jamie Hamilton, Paddy Kavanagh, Paddy Kirk, JJ Lunney, Cristian Magerusan, Colin McCabe, Eoghan Morgan, Derek Pender, Fuad Sule, Shane Supple, Warren O’Hora, Keith Ward, John Ross Wilson.
