Longford sign Jamie Hollywood and re-sign Cian Byrne

Longford Town boss Neale Fenn has bolstered his side’s ranks ahead of the 2018 season with the re-signing of Cian Byrne alongside the signing of new recruit and former Drogheda United midfielder Jamie Hollywood.

Having joined Longford Town in August of the 2017 campaign, Byrne has been confirmed as a part of the Longford Town squad who will be hoping to secure promotion back to the Premier Division.

Byrne, who was previously on the books of Leixlip United in the Leinster Senior League, struggled to gain a permanent spot in Fenn’s side after his arrival in August, only making one league appearance for the Red and Black, a 23-minute cameo in the final game of the season at home to Wexford FC.

In addition to the re-signing of Cian Byrne, Jamie Hollywood has swapped Drogheda for Longford as he was confirmed as the third new face to make his way to City Calling Stadium for the 2018 campaign.

Hollywood, having tasted relegation with the Drogs last season, makes the move having made 6 appearances in 2017 in what was a disappointing season for the Boynesiders.

The former Bohemians Under 19 star, who is a centre-midfielder by trade, only really made impacts from the bench for Pete Mahon’s side in the clubs slip to relegation. Hollywood joins Chris Mulhall, who has made the switch from United Park to the City Calling Stadium in the off-season.

This announcement from the club comes after the departures of Paul Skinner, who has departed after 3 years of service at the City Calling Stadium alongside youngster Dan Beya who confirmed his exit from the Midlander’s last week.
