Longford Town sign young trio up to new deals

Longford Town have announced that the trio of Jack Brady, Karl Chambers and Daniel O’Reilly have re-signed for the 2018 season.

In the wake of a fifth-place finish in the 2017 First Division, Neale Fenn and Longford Town have acted quickly to nail down the services of key members of the first-team for the next campaign.

Having played second fiddle to Paul Skinner for most of this year’s campaign, Brady only made his mark on the starting eleven following an injury to Skinner.

This run coincided with Towns FAI Cup run to the quarter finals, where Brady gained plenty of plaudits for some fantastic saves in games against Sligo Rovers, Bangor Celtic and Cork City.

The former Shelbourne man making 12 appearances for the red and black of the midlands, and becoming a permanent fixture in the first team towards the back end of the season.

Midfielder Chambers made 23 appearances in the 2017 season, scoring three goals in wins over both Athlone Town and Cobh Ramblers.

The midlands club have also announced that central defender and Player of the Year O‘Reilly has committed to the cause of the 2018 season.

Having made 30 appearances in the Red and Black, O’Reilly established himself as a key component in back four, forming partnerships with Stephen Walsh, before his departure to rivals Athlone Town, and retired Town legend Noel Haverty.

Only the ever-present Dean Zambra managed to turn out on more occasions for the City Calling Stadium outfit.
