Cork City v Derry City pushed back 24 hours due to Storm Ophelia

Cork City will have to delay their title celebrations for at least 24 more hours after their league tie with Derry City was postponed until Tuesday due to expected inclement weather.

The match, which was originally meant to take place last week before being postponed as a result of Derry's international call-ups, was rescheduled for Monday evening, October 16th.

The arrival of Storm Ophelia on the south-west coast on Monday morning means the game has been pushed back once again in the hope conditions will have become calmer by Tuesday.

It is understood the Derry team were in transit to Cork on Sunday evening when they were informed of the fixture change and will now spend two nights on Leeside.

The match was due to be broadcast live on RTÉ2, however the broadcaster has yet to confirm if it will show the game on Tuesday, which clashes with a full round of Champions League fixtures.
