St Patrick's Athletic moved out of the relegation zone with a 2-0 win over Shamrock Rovers thanks to rare headed goals from Ian Bermingham and Paul O'Conor.
Captain Bermingham, who missed Friday's defeat to Bohemians with suspension, made his mark on his return with a looping header from Conan Byrne's cross less than 20 minutes in.
And Byrne was the provider again before the break as he floated in an inviting cross for Paul O'Conor to grab his first goal for the club with a downward header from close range.
Pats' recently-recruited keeper Lukas Skowron made a number of important saves during the match to keep their lead intact and ensure they leap above Sligo Rovers and Galway United into eighth.
