Former Athlone Town defender Kirils Grigorovs signs for Czech third-tier side FK Mohelnice

Former Athlone Town defender Kirils Grigorovs has signed for Czech third-tier side FK Mohelnice following his release by the First Division side.

The Latvian joined Athlone ahead of the 2017 season and quickly established himself as a first-choice centre back under Colin Fortune and his successor Ricardo Monsanto.

Grigorovs was one of three new signings, alongside Igors Labuts and Dragos Sfrijan, to make his debut in the narrow pre-season defeat to Galway United on February 3rd.

He made 16 appearances in total during his spell in Athlone, appearing for the final time in Roddy Collins' side during the 3-1 home defeat to Shelbourne on July 7th.

Mohelnice compete in the Moravian-Silesian league, one of two regional leagues alongside the Bohemian Football League that make up the third tier of Czech football.
