Former Wexford winger Eric Molloy signs for Team Wellington in New Zealand

Former Wexford Youths winger Eric Molloy has swapped Southern United for New Zealand Premiership rivals Team Wellington.

The Carlow native has signed for last season's Premiership champions following a year with the Dunedin side, who are managed by his former Carlow IT manager Paul O'Reilly.

Molloy was one of five players, alongside Conor O'Keefe, Danny Ledwith, Stephen Last and Andy Mulligan, to leave Youths two months before the end of last season as they went on to be relegated.

Striker Danny Furlong joined the quintet at the end of the season with the semi-professional club, who offered them opportunities to advance their careers off the field of play.

24-year-old Molloy was part of the Youths side that won their first and only First Division title in 2015, and reached the Leinster Senior Cup final the following year.
