Gary Armstrong rejoins Ballinamallard United from Sligo Rovers

Sligo Rovers have confirmed that striker Gary Armstrong has left the club to re-join Ballinamallard United.

The 21-year-old previously spent the second half of last season on loan with the Mallards, who are managed by former Sligo boss Gavin Dykes, and returns on a permanent deal.

He made his latest debut for the Fermanagh club off the bench in Saturday's 5-1 defeat by Crusaders and made a quick impact, hitting the post five minutes from time.

Armstrong, who is the grandson of the club's all-time leading scorer Johnny Armstrong, signed a new contract ahead of the 2017 season but has made just two substitute appearances.

In total, Armstrong has made 24 appearances for the Bit o' Red over three years since making his debut in 2014, scoring five goals.
