Watch: Seani Maguire gets off the mark for Preston North End

It's not quite up there with his strikerate for Cork City, but after six games Sean Maguire is off the mark for English Championship side Preston North End.

Maguire headed home the opening goal at Deepdale this afternoon – his 21st league goal of 2017 all things considered – as the Lilywhites were held to a 1-1 draw by Barnsley.

The sight of the 23-year-old finding space in the box and powering home a free header is a familiar one for League of Ireland defenders – and Barnsley's can now be added to that list.

Kilkenny man Maguire seemed to have all the time in the world to run into the box and soar to nod home Tom Barkhuizen's left-wing cross.

Maguire was awarded the sponsor's man of the match award for his all-round display as Preston were a touch unfortunate not to take all three points.
