Crumlin to host Dundalk in Iveagh Grounds as FAI Cup Second Round schedule confirmed

The dates, times and locations for all eight FAI Cup second round ties have been fixed with Crumlin United's home tie with Dundalk moved to the Iveagh Grounds.

Crumlin had hoped to host the league champions at their home facility at Pearse Park but the ground has been deemed inadequate by the FAI.

Speaking to the extratime.ie Sportscast, Crumlin United manager Martin Loughran called on the FAI to allow the club to use Pearse Park, which they share with Crumlin GAA club.

“From our end, it's the magic of the Cup,” said Loughran.

“Dundalk, probably the best team in the country, coming to town. It would be great for the area.

“The area gets enough bad publicity with other stuff going on, so we feel this would help us to promote the area in a good way. Hopefully the powers that be will help us along the way.”

The compromise will see the Leinster Senior League side remain in Crumlin at the Iveagh Gardens with a kick-off arranged for Saturday afternoon – the only game that day.

The same pitch will be used the night beforehand by Bangor Celtic, who normally play home games there, as they welcome Longford Town.

Elsewhere on Friday, Bluebell United's home tie with Cabinteely has been moved to Stradbrook Park after their facility at the Red Cow was likewise deemed inadequate, with a 7pm kick-off.

Limerick will host Finn Harps in an all-Premier Division tie on Saturday evening at the Market's Field.

All other games will kick off on Friday night, with Shelbourne hosting Shamrock Rovers in another Dublin Derby and Cork City welcoming Athlone Town to Turner's Cross.
