Fuad Sule named SWAI Player of the Month for July

Bohemians midfielder Fuad Sule has been announced as the SSE Airtricity/Soccer Writers’ Association of Ireland Player of the month for July.

Sule has earned plenty of plaudits from many supporters and pundits throughout the season since his Bohs debut in April against Cabinteely in the EA Sports Cup.

Sule has had a very impressive July with this nomination for Player of the Month and signing a new deal with Bohs which will take him into the 2018 season with the Gypsies.

Naturally, Sule was delighted with his award emphasising his happiness that his work that may go often unnoticed is being rewarded.

"It's pleasing to see hard work getting the recognition,” Sule told reporters upon receipt of the award.

"I've looked back at past winners of this award and it's usually been goal scorers or more attacking players. It's good to see the other side of the game recognised too.

Sule, who joined Bohs from St Patrick's Athletic in the off season, played an integral role in two outstanding victories over Dublin rivals Shamrock Rovers and Cork City, both away from home, which may have swinged the vote in his favour.

Thinking back on the two games, the industrious midfielder knows the importance of the club picking up 6 valuable points from the pair of crucial encounters.

"They were two unbelievable games. Beating Rovers gave us a lot of confidence going into the Cork game and that really helped us.

In spite of the 8 point buffer between the Gypsies and the relegation zone, Sule is wary of the unpredictability of the league and has reiterated that Bohs must pick up some more points as they look to stay up in the Premier Division

"We're eight points clear but I don't think that's enough with the way the league has been going.

"We keep getting sucked back in, it's like a whirlwind. Six more points might do it but who knows?”

Bohemians make the long trek up to Ballybofey for a clash with Finn Harps and Sule is hopeful of a cup run despite the tough task awaiting Keith Long's charges.

"We've been training towards a good cup run but Friday is going to be tough, we know that. Everyone will leave it all out there."

Sule came out on top in the face of some serious competition in recently departed Cork City striker Sean Maguire and St Pats midfielder Conan Byrne who ended up in second and third respectively
