Glenavon have completed the signing of former Northern Ireland midfielder Sammy Clingan on a one-year deal ahead of the 2017-18 season.

33-year-old Clingan played as a guest for the Lurgan Blues in several pre-season friendlies and impressed enough to earn a full-time deal with the Irish Premiership club.

Clingan has enjoyed a long career in England and Scotland with spells at Nottingham Forest, Norwich City, Coventry City and Kilmarnock to his name.

The club also confirmed that striker Stephen McCavitt has signed a permanent deal after impressing on trial during pre-season.

19-year-old McCavitt has spent the past two seasons playing in the third-tier NIFL Premier Intermediate League with Banbridge Town.
