Watch: Last-gasp James Doona strike books Shamrock Rovers EA Sports Cup final spot

A late, late show from substitute James Doona sealed an EA Sports Cup final spot for Shamrock Rovers as the Hoops overcame Cork City 1-0 after extra time.

The teenager sent the home support into raptures in the very final minute of extra time when most within the home support had resigned themselves to the prospect of penalties.

Rovers played 82 minutes against ten men after City defender Alan Bennett was sent off in the first half following an off-the-ball incident with Hoops defender Dave Webster.7

The home side dominated the match thereafter and were unlucky to see a stunning Mark McNulty save deny captain Ronan Finn from distance in the second half.

And just when the Rebel Army thought they done enough to force an unlikely shootout, Doona showed skill and poise to turn Jimmy Keohane and fire past the near-impenetrable McNulty.

The Hoops will face Dundalk in the final on September 16th at Tallaght Stadium.
