Longford sign trio ahead of First Division run-in

Longford Town have announced the signing of Alan Kehoe, Peter Hopkins and Cian Byrne.

The trio have joined the club following the closure of the transfer window on Monday night.

Kehoe makes the swap from the Premier Division to the First Division after leaving Bray Wanderers by mutual consent on Monday.

Kehoe, a left back by trade, joins De Town after making just the four appearances with Bray this season, with three of these coming from the bench.

He was previously with Shelbourne where he made 20 appearances, scoring one goal, during the 2015 season.

Hopkins joins the club following a stint with amateur side Sheriff. Hopkins departs the AUL Premier A side after failing to nail down a guaranteed spot in the first team.

Like fellow new signing Sam Verdon, Hopkins was on the books of St Patrick's Athletic with their under-19 side.

Byrne completes his move to Longford with his move from Lucan United. A midfielder by trade, Byrne played for Lucan in the Leinster Senior League during the 2016/17 season.

With the transfer window between domestic clubs now closed, the new trio of signings bring new manager Neale Fenn's new acquisitions up to six, with Paul Finnegan, Verdon and Kaleem Simon joining the club in recent weeks.
