Finn Harps sign former Wolves striker Ibrahim Keita

Finn Harps have signed French-born striker Ibrahim Keita, with the player making his debut on Friday night in Finn Park.

The 21-year old, who previously played for Wolverhampton Wanderers, FC VSS Kosice, AE Larisa, and Doxa Proskyniton, was a late second half substitute in Harps’ 2-1 win over Bohemians in the SSE Airtricity Premier Division.

Keita joined Wolves at the age of 15 and, after promising displays in their underage teams, was promoted to join the first-team squad and was an unused sub on two occasions.

In 2015, Keita departed Wolves and has since featured for clubs in Slovakia and Greece. Keita has previously played for France at U16 level.

Keita becomes Ollie Horgan’s second signing since the transfer window re-opened, and the Harps manager is hoping that the center-forward can step in as a direct replacement for Ciaran O’Connor who has left Finn Park after a six-month loan spell - O’Connor returned to Harps on Friday night with Bohs and was an unused sub on the bench for Keith Long’s team.

“We’re pleased to get Ibrahim into the squad,” said Harps boss Ollie Horgan. “Hopefully he can adapt quickly to the League of Ireland Premier Division. He has played at a decent level and has that experience of being with professional clubs.
