Lorcan Shannon leaves Shelbourne by mutual consent

Shelbourne have confirmed that winger Lorcan Shannon has left the club by mutual consent and is now a free agent ahead of the summer transfer window.

Shannon has spent the past 18 months at the club since joining from Longford Town at the end of 2015, making 26 appearances in his first season and scoring twice.

The Dubliner has found gametime harder to come by under Owen Heary this year, however, making just 10 appearances without finding the net.

23-year-old Shannon played his schoolboy football with Home Farm before joining the Shamrock Rovers underage set-up in July 2011.

He spent time on loan with Dundalk the following season, making eight appearances for the Lilywhites, before moving onto Bohemians when his Rovers contract expired at the end of 2012.

After an unhappy spell at Dalymount Park, where he made just two appearances, Shannon moved to Longford Town for the 2014 season and helped the midland side to the First Division title.

Shannon made 45 appearances across two season with Longford, scoring three goals, before leaving City Calling Stadium at the end of the season to return to the First Division and Shelbourne.
