Cabinteely begin summer recruitment with pair from intermediate ranks

Cabinteely have made their first signings of the summer with the addition of two players from the amateur ranks in Dylan Roche and Peter Durrad.

Both players were included in the squad for last Friday's narrow 1-0 defeat to Wexford at Stradbrook Park, with Roche starting and Durrad appearing as a second-half substitute.

24-year-old defender Roche signs from reigning Liffey Wanderers after helping the south inner-city Dublin side to the FAI Intermediate Cup crown with victory over Cobh Wanderers at the Aviva last month.

Roche, whose brothers Aidan and Lee and League of Ireland experience with Longford Town and Shamrock Rovers respectively, impressed enough to be elevated straight to the starting eleven.

22-year-old striker Durrad will be something better-known to Cabo fans, having made seven appearances for the Dun Laoghaire/Rathdown side during the latter half of the 2015 season.

The former St Patrick's Athletic and Bray Wanderers man spent the past season-and-a-half with Leinster Senior League Senior Sunday side Wayside Celtic.

Durrad was the Stepaside club's top scorer during the season just finished as they ultimately fell just a point short in their battle to avoid relegation.
