Derry City's Nicky Low extends loan stay from Dundee until season's end

Derry City have received a boost ahead of Thursday's Europa League trip to Denmark to take on Midtjylland with the news Scottish midfielder Nicky Low has extended his loan with the Candystripes to the end of the season.

Low, who is contracted with Scottish Premiership side Dundee, has been the fulcrum in City's midfield this season following the departure of Conor McCormack to rivals Cork City.

The 25-year-old was unsure as to whether he would be part of the Scottish club's plans in the coming months but the arrival of Scott Allan on loan from Celtic appears to have smoothed the way to prolonging his spell in Ireland.

The Glasgow native will now stay with the Candystripes until November 7th following the conclusion of the League of Ireland season and FAI Cup.

“I have enjoyed my time here and it was only the league campaign,” Low told the Derry City official website following confirmation of his loan extension.

“Now we are going into Europe, then we have the FAI Cup and we’ll be looking to do well in the league to try and get back into Europe for next season.

“There’s a lot of things happening here and I’m excited to see where it takes us, so I’m absolutely delighted things are now sorted out.”

Low has been virtually ever-present for the Candystripes since the beginning of the season, making 16 appearances in total.
