Goalkeeper Ciaran Nugent parts company with Galway United

Galway United have announced that goalkeeper Ciaran Nugent has left the club.

The American made five appearances for The Tribesmen in all competitions, playing his second and last Premier Division game for the club in a 4-0 loss to Cork City in March.

The 25-year-old spent the 2016 season at Connacht rivals Sligo Rovers where he was second choice behind Micheál Schlingermann.

The goalkeeper signed for Galway at the start of this season but soon found himself relegated to the bench behind Conor Winn.

In a statement released by the club, Galway United manager Shane Keegan wished Nugent well.

“Everyone at the club thanks Ciaran for his contribution to the club and we wish him the best of luck in his future career,” said Keegan.
