Former Ireland international Andy Keogh signs new two-year deal at Perth Glory

Former Republic of Ireland international Andy Keogh has signed on for two more seasons with A-League side Perth Glory.

Keogh is the club's top scorer in the A-League era, having scored almost exactly one goal every two games with a record 34 goals in 70 appearances.

The 31-year-old has signed a one-year extension that will take him through to the end of the 2018/19 season, having helped the Glory to a league semi-final last season.

“I’m thrilled that I have extended my contract for another year which will see me at the club for at least the next two-seasons," Keogh told the Glory's official website.

"I am happy at Perth Glory and my family and I have settled well in Perth and WA.

“I am also excited with what we are building here at the club and look forward to helping bring success for our members and fans very soon. I can’t wait for the 2017/18 season to begin.”

Keogh signed for the Western Australia club from Millwall ahead of the 2014-15 season and scored two goals on his debut in a 2-0 win over Newcastle Jets as the Glory reached the FFA Cup final.

He briefly left the club in 2015 after the club was found guilty of a salary cap breach, joining Thai club Ratchaburi, but returned in December of that year.

The 30 times-capped international spent time with Leeds United, Scunthorpe United, Wolverhampton Wanderers after playing schoolboy football with St Joseph's Boys and Cabinteely.

He spent time on loan with Cardiff City, Bristol City and Blackpool during a nomadic career in England that saw him play in the Premier League with Wolves under Mick McCarthy.

“We are delighted to secure the services of Andy Keogh beyond next season, a player who plays such a key role in our team and club," said Glory CEO Peter Filopoulos.

“Andy is now well settled in Perth and excitingly, he is also working towards securing his Australian citizenship.

“With 17 players contracted for next season, we are in a good position to build upon our squad in the coming weeks and months.”
