Cork City confirm departure of Lithuanian under-21 defender Rimvydas Sadauskas

Cork City have confirmed that Lithuanian under-21 international defender Rimvydas Sadauskas has return to his parent club Stumbras following the conclusion of his three-month loan period.

The 20-year-old failed to make a senior appearance for the Leesiders during his time at Turner's Cross, however he did play in a 3-0 friendly win over the Irish Amateur Nations Cup side.

Sadauskas joined City at the end of February and was identified by manager John Caulfield as a player who could challenge for a squad place following the unplanned departure of Kenny Browne.

However he found his path to the senior team blocked by the outstanding form of fellow loanee Ryan Delaney, along with club captain John Dunleavy and Alan Bennett.

“I would like to thank Rimvydas for his efforts while he was here and wish him the very best of luck in the future,” Caulfield told the club's official website.

“He came over here and fitted in brilliantly. He is a fantastic guy who worked very hard. We would like to thank him and his club.

“He has picked up great experience over here and I think they will see when he goes back that he has improved as a player.”
