Stephen Bradley: 'We were robbed' against Derry

Stephen Bradley has reiterated his disappointment at the disallowed goal he feels denied his Shamrock Rovers side at least a draw against Derry City on Friday night.

The Hoops returned to winning ways with an easy 2-0 win over Galway United in Tallaght on Monday evening, thanks to goals in either half from Gary Shaw and Brandon Miele.

However Bradley's the Hoops boss restated his disappointment at the decision and the confusion that surrounded it when pressed by reporters after the final whistle.

“I felt we were robbed,” Bradley said.

“The goal that was disallowed for us was unbelievable because we were told that it was because Gary Shaw had the keeper's jersey in his hands.

“If you actually look at the pictures, he's actually three yards away from the keeper and he [Doherty] actually runs into his own defender. It's really hard done by.

“I know they scored a peno last minute with the game stretched, it's over, so we're really disappointed.

“We played well, and it was important we came back here and played well. They're dangerous – we knew they would be and I thought the lads were excellent.”

And following a sluggish opening period against Galway, Bradley was impressed by his side's composure as they made light work of Shane Keegan's side.

The Tribesmen were unbeaten in nine coming into the game, including a win over Dundalk and ending Cork City's 100% record, but it resembled a training run at times for the Hoops.

“We ran out really comfortable in the end. In the first half they broke and had one or two chances, but we talked about it at half time.

“We were making the game too big, too long. We were too stretched as a team because we were going too direct.

“Once we settled down in the second half and played our game, I though we looked really, really comfortable and deserved to win.

“They're taking points off everyone and they're a dangerous team, so it was a good win.”

Bradley was also impressed with the form of his fellow Tallaght man Brandon Miele, who scored his second goal in three games since returning to the first eleven at the expense of Darren Meenan.

”We've had a look at Brandon in terms of how to get him back to where he was two years ago," he responded to a question from extratime.ie's Alex Dunne.

“We've tweaked his training – he doesn't train as much as the other lads and does different training both in the gym and on the pitch.

“We're trying everything to get him back where he was and I think he's shown glimpses the past few weeks.

“His finish against Bohs was unbelievable and tonight, any time we went forward, he looked on it. He looked dangerous.”
