Watch: Cork City end Wexford's unbeaten run in spectacular fashion

The last unbeaten record in the Women's National League fell in spectacular fashion this evening as Cork City beat Wexford Youths 4-1 at Bishopstown Stadium.

Second half goals from Saoirse Noonan, Stacey Paul and a brace from Clare Shine earned a comprehensive win for the home side after captain Kylie Murphy had given Youths a half-time lead.

Murphy opened the scoring four minutes before the break as she was slipped in on goal by Claire O'Riordan and she rounded Amanda Budden before slotting home.

City emerged for the second half with a point to prove and Noonan equalised within the first minute, heading home powerfully from Shine's cross.

Paul put City in front on the hour mark following good work from Becky Cassin as she took the ball expertly on her chest and slid in to knock the ball past the advancing Sophie Lenehan.

Then came Shine's turn to, er, shine as the Republic of Ireland international bagged her first five minutes later with a volley at the back post when Youths failed to clear a corner.

And Shine, who recently returned to Cork from Glasgow City, made the game safe two minutes later with a shot that Lenehan will be disappointed not to have saved.

It's a second double in as many games for Shine, who scored both goals in City's 2-0 win over Galway WFC last weekend.

City are now just three points off first-place UCD Waves and two behind Wexford.
