Watch: Shine double sees Cork City past Galway

Republic of Ireland international Clare Shine was on the double as Cork City earned their second win of the season against Galway at Eamonn Deacy Park on Saturday.

Cork broke the deadlock after eight minutes when Danielle Sheehy's ball over the top found Saoirse Noonan, who lobbed the advancing Tina Hughes, and Shine turned it home from a tight angle.

Aislinn Meaney had an opportunity to equalise midway through the first half as she ran beyond the defence but her touch was too heavy and she collided heavily with City keeper Amanda Budden.

City had the ball in the net after the break as Laura Coughlan headed past Hughes, but the goal was disallowed for an apparent push by the forward.

Shine was twice denied by excellent saves by Hughes, the latter an acrobatic stop from a long-range effort, before Alina Cheatham steered a glorious chance from a corner straight at Budden.

The striker finally made the points safe a minute from time when she broke clear on the counter from inside her own half and raced through to slot past Hughes.
