Watch: Should Ger Doherty have been sent off against Galway?

Galway United climbed off the foot of the Premier Division title tonight thanks to a 0-0 draw with Derry City at Eamonn Deacy Park.

Derry goalkeeper Ger Doherty was lauded after the final whistle (read Paul Corcoran's match report here) as he made a string of key saves to keep the Candystripes at level pegging – but should he have been on the pitch at all?

Footage filmed by Galway United's media team shows an incident just four minutes into the game when Doherty rushed out of his box to close down Ronan Murray and appeared to deliberately handle the striker's shot.

Referee Robert Hennessy gave Doherty a yellow card but, as he denied a clear goalscoring opportunity, should he have produced a red instead? The Galway players certainly thought so.
