Watch: Youths topple UCD in seven-goal thriller at Jackson Park

A seven-goal thriller enveloped at Jackson Park where, for the second successive meeting between the sides, Wexford Youths emerged 4-3 winners over fellow high-fliers UCD Waves.

Both sides came into their Women's National League tie with unbeaten records, UCD on 10 points and Wexford on seven, so little surprise there was only the slimmest of margins to separate them after 90 minutes.

The home side opened the scoring with barely 90 seconds on the clock as Kerri Letmon's shot from just inside the box arrowed into the bottom corner.

Wexford only had to wait two minutes for a response, however, as Jess Gleeson headed Emma Hansberry's corner back across goal where Jenny O'Keefe was on hand to volley home.

O'Keefe's involvement in the next goal was somewhat less circumspect as she fired a clearance straight into Orla Conlon and, in an effort to prevent a goal, sent the ball into the roof of her own net.

Again, Waves weren't in front for long as Hansberry tried to find the top corner with her free kick and keeper Brooke Dunne could only parry out to Kylie Murphy who finished into an open goal.

Waves took the lead for a third time before half time through Ireland international Áine O'Gorman after Deirdre Nolan had tripped Dearbhla Beirne just inside the box.

After a high-scoring first half, it took until the 72nd minute for Youths to break the second-half deadlock as they levelled through Murphy's 35-yards strike, the captain's second goal of the game.

Six minutes later, Youths took the lead for the first time as a long ball bounced up and cannoned off Linda Douglas for an own goal, and Youths held onto the lead to move level on points with UCD.
