Ireland's under-17 Euros opener v Serbia to be broadcast live this afternoon

The Republic of Ireland open their under-17 European Championships campaign against Serbia in Kostrena, Croatia this afternoon (kick-off 3.30pm Irish time).

 

The match will be broadcast live across Europe and in Ireland on Eurosport 1 as Ireland kick off their campaign in a tournament they last reached in 2015.

 

Colin O'Brien's team have been drawn in a tough group alongside Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Germany with the top two advancing to the quarter-finals.

 

Ireland resume their campaign on Sunday evening agains Bosnia before finishing the group against fellow first seeds Germany on Wednesday morning.

 

O'Brien named a strong squad featuring ten domestic-based players, including seven from League of Ireland clubs, for the tournament.

 



Shamrock Rovers' Aaron Bolger and Bohemians' Brandon Kavanagh already have first-team experience while three members of St Patrick's Athletic under-17 league-winning team also feature.

 

Liverpool striker Glen McAuley misses out due to personal reasons, however prolific goalscorers Adam Idah and Aaron Connolly, who scored four in elite qualifying, are included.
