Athlone Town part company with Ricardo Monsanto

Athlone Town have today announced the departure of Ricardo Monsanto as first team manager.

 

Monsanto was first team manager since the start of the season and the club have announced that following a recent meeting a decision was made between the club and Monsanto to part company.

 

In the statement released by Athlone Town AFC, the club has cited recent results as the determining factor to the decision. “Following those talks it was mutually agreed by both parties that Ricardo's tenure as first team manager come to an end”. “Unfortunately recent results have not been as Ricardo and the club had hoped for”.

 

In the statement released by the Midlands club today, the club have said that “Everyone involved with Athlone Town AFC would like to place on the record its thanks to Ricardo for the hard work and dedication he has put into his coaching duties with the first team since the start of the season” and “the club would also like to wish Monsanto every success in the future”.

 

Monsanto leaves the club 7th in the table following a 7 game winless run. Athlone Town were beaten most recently in the First Division by Waterford FC at the RSC 2-1.

 



First team coach Ricardo Cravos will take charge of tonight's first team game against Wexford FC at The Athlone Town Stadium.

 

Also in the statement, the club has announced they have started the process to recruit a new manager. “It is the club's intention that an announcement concerning the appointment of a new manager will be made in the coming days”.
