Martin O'Neill's Ireland drop two places in FIFA World Rankings

The Republic of Ireland men's team have fallen two places to 26th in the latest FIFA World Rankings, tied with Northern Ireland.

Martin O'Neill's senior side dropped from 860 ranking points to 823 following the World Cup qualifying draw with Wales and friendly defeat to Iceland four days later.

Northern Ireland's 2-0 win over Norway saw them jump 37 points and nine places as they climbed from 35th to 26th, the second-largest jump in the top 50 after Sweden's 11-place leap to 34th.

Ireland's women climbed two places to 32nd as a result of their fourth-placed finish at the Cyprus Cup, as they beat the Czech Republic and Wales and drew with Hungary.

Ireland men's Group D opponents Wales dropped one place to 13th as a result of the scoreless draw in Dublin as they were overtaken by a resurgent Italy.

Austria dropped two places to 36th, their lowest ranking since 2013, after following up their 2-0 World Cup qualifying win over Moldova 2-0 with a 1-1 friendly draw against Finland.

Serbia continued their climb back up the rankings with their 3-1 qualifying win over Georgia, rising three places to 49th, having dropped out of the top 50 earlier this year.

Moldova moved up four places to 149th in spite of that defeat to Austria, while Georgia also rose four places to 122nd after losing at home to the Serbs.

Brazil scaled the summit of the rankings for the first time since since 2010, having won each of their last nine games (eight World Cup qualifiers) since Tite succeeded Dunga last year.
