Watch: McEleney wondergoal helps Dundalk to easy win over Pats

Patrick McEleney produced a second stunning strike in as many weeks as the champions Dundalk cruised to a 3-0 victory at home to struggling St Patrick's Athletic.

The Derry native, who settled last week's tie with Limerick at Oriel Park with a furious strike from 25 yards, scored a contender for goal of the season in the first minute of the second half.

Ciaran Kilduff had given the Lilywhites a hard earned lead a minute prior to the break as he turned McEleney's cross under the legs of Pats defender Darren Dennehy and into the corner of the net.

Seconds after the resumption, man of the match McEleney beat four defenders before expertly lifting the ball over Conor O'Malley with the outside of his boot.

The 24-year-old dabbed as he celebrated with his team mates, which perhaps goes to show that even the most talented and hard-working footballers aren't without their tragic flaws.

McEleney added his second of the game, and Dundalk's third, seven minutes later as Kilduff returned the compliment and set him up to round Rory Feely and stab home.
