Keith Ward – For football reasons Bohs was the better move for me

Extratime.ie caught up with Keith Ward recently to discuss his move to Bohemians during the off-season.

He feels that Bohemians could be the surprise package this season "Hopefully this year we can surprise a few teams. Maybe this year we be the team that does well in the league surprisingly like Derry last year."

His move back to Bohs, was inspired by a conversation he had with with Keith Long just before he was about to re-sign for Derry. He felt that for both footballing reasons and moving back home to Dublin, that Bohs was a better fit for him this season. He played for the Daymount side in 2012, scoring four goals in his 24 appearances.

He hopes to take up some of the dead ball responsibilities this season. That main responsibility has been with Lorcan Fitzgerald for the past few seasons. "Me and Lorcs have been best mates since we were kids." he said "I though him how to take free kicks so I'll obviously be taking over" however he did add "I'll let him take one or two maybe".

When asked about fellow new signing Dinny Corcoran Ward revealed; "Dinny is one of the most underrated players in the league and I think with him and Izzy [Akinade] up front, it's not guaranteed goals, but with them two up front we've always got a chance."
