Bray and Sligo to enter Scotland's league cup in 2017

Sligo Rovers and Bray Wanderers will participate in the 2017-18 edition of the Irn-Bru Scottish Challenge Cup, FAI director of competitions Fran Gavin has revealed.
Gavin revealed at the launch of the 2017 League of Ireland at the Aviva Stadium that the two highest-placed sides not competing in Europe next season would instead enter Scotland's league cup.
The two sides won't be the only exotic entrants in the recently-revamped tournament, as for the first time two teams from Northern Ireland Wales, along with under-20 teams of Scottish Premiership clubs, entered in the current season.
Northern Irish champions Crusaders and runners-up Linfield, along with Welsh champions the New Saints and runners-up Bala Town, entered in the fourth round of the competition beginning in October.
Only the New Saints managed to advance a round, and the Welsh champions are set to face St Mirren in the semi-finals on February 19th, with a showdown against Dundee United or Queen of the South a carrot for the winner.
An allowance of £4,000 was made available for any club facing an overseas trip in this year's competition, although it's unknown as yet what arrangement will be made in 2017-18.
