Limerick sign French midfielder Bastien Hery

Limerick have added yet another player to their squad ahead of the new season with the acquisition of Bastien Hery who signed from Accrington Stanley on Monday.

The 24-year-old French midfielder, once on the books of Paris Saint-Germain, had spent the past four years in English football representing Rochdale, Carlisle United and Accrington following an unsuccessful spell with Sheffield Wednesday.

A former France under 18 international, Hery becomes Limerick manager Martin Russell’s seventh close season signing with Cork City starlet Chiedozie Ogbene and Brazilian veteran Rodrigo Tosi also arriving at Markets Field in recent days.

Hery started his professional career with PSG and featured for their reserve team, who play in the fourth tier of French football.

Having failed to make a first-team appearance for the French giants, he signed for Sheffield Wednesday but endured similar misfortune before joining Rochdale in 2013.

After two seasons with the club, he transferred to Carlisle United before moving to Accrington Stanley last summer where he made just one league appearance for the League Two side.
