Limerick re-sign top scorer John O'Flynn ahead of Premier Division return

Limerick have announced the re-signing of last season's joint-top scorer John O'Flynn ahead of the 2017 season.

The Cobhman joined from Cork City at the beginning of Limerick's title-winning 2016 season, scoring 12 goals as the Blues sealed the league title with six games to spare in August.

34-year-old O'Flynn has had a long playing career on both sides of the Irish Sea, spending six years with City before leaving when the club went into examinership in 2008 to join Barnet.

He was voted the club's player of the season in 2008-09 but left after two years following the conclusion of his contract and signed for Exeter City.

O'Flynn made 133 appearances, scoring 25 goals, in his four injury-plagued seasons with the Grecians before returning to the League of Ireland with John Caulfield's Rebel Army.

He was part of the City team that twice finished second in the league behind Dundalk, making 28 appearances, including four starts, and contributing three goals before departing for Limerick.
