Shamrock Rovers defender Sean Heaney signs new deal
Shamrock Rovers have confirmed that defender Sean Heaney has re-signed ahead of the 2017 season.
The Dubliner returns for fifth successive year at Tallaght Stadium, having initially joined the club's under-19 squad from St Kevin's Boys in 2013.
20-year-old Heaney made his debut for the senior team in a friendly with Birmingham City that summer before making his first competitive appearance against Dundalk in the Leinster Senior Cup.
He spent the following season with the club's ill-fated B side in their one and only season in the First Division and played the following year at the same level on loan with Shelbourne.
Heaney finally established himself as a first team player at Rovers in 2016, appearing 18 times and scoring four times, including two goals as the Hoops reached the quarter-finals of the FAI Cup.
