Flood joins Bray Wanderers

Bray Wanderers have added yet another player to their ranks ahead of the 2017 Premier Division kicking off by bringing Anthony Flood to the seaside.

Flood, a League of Ireland winner with St. Patrick’s Athletic in 2013, is returning to Irish football after a two-year spell in Australia with Dunbar Rovers and Sydney-based Maconi Stalions.

“Bray Wanderers FC are delighted to announce the signing of striker Anthony Flood ahead of the 2017 season,” a statement on braywanderersfc.ie read.

“Everyone at Bray Wanderers is delighted to welcome Anthony to Harry Kenny’s 2017 squad and we look forward to his contribution in the coming season.”

Flood has played for his fair share of clubs both on Irish soil and abroad throughout his career. As well as his spells with Pat’s, the striker has spent time with Athlone Town, Shamrock Rovers, Dundalk, Shelbourne, Galway United and Bohemians.

His time here has never gone on for long spells without interruption, however, having left Galway in 2010 to join Swedish side Örebro Sportklubb before returning to play for Bohemians in 2011.

Flood again departed these shores for Southend United in 2012, but failed to find regular playing time and opted to return to Richmond Park, where he would go on to lift the Premier Division title with the Saints.

The 32-year-old forward is just the latest arrival at the Carlisle Grounds this off- season and Harry Kenny’s Seagulls will likely be aiming for a comfortable top-half finish this campaign.
