Had Boots Did Travel - Irish Abroad (28 Dec 2016)

There were 74 Irish players in action across the top four divisions in England over the St Stephen's Day round of fixtures, and a further 10 in Scotland, as Christmas came a day late for many.

Of those, 10 lined out in the Premier League with eight starting their side's games. Five are products of the League of Ireland, while Jonathan Walters the only Irish scorer.

27 lined out in the Championship (six with League of Ireland experience), 18 in League One (five ex-LOI) and 19 in League Two (with eight LOI products), though just three goals between them.

While a grand total of four goals – and only one in the top division – is a miserly return, Martin O'Neill will be heartened to see 37 eligible players line out in the top two tiers.
