Delany set for third stint at Shels

With the signing of goalkeeper Dean Delany from Bohemians, Shelbourne manager Owen Heary has brought his 2017 squad to fourteen confirmed players.

This will be Delany's third stint at Shelbourne, having first joined the club in 2005 after spells in England at Everton and Port Vale. The 'keeper made his league debut for Shels against Waterford in June 2005 before helping the club win the league title in 2006. Delany then signed for Waterford in 2007, making 30 appearances for the Blues before re-signing for Shelbourne ahead of the 2008 season.

He went on to play in all 36 league games for Shelbourne in 2008, as they finished second in the First Division, missing out on promotion due to a 1-1 draw with Limerick 37 on the final day of the season. The Dubliner gained promotion to the Premier Division with Shelbourne in the 2011 season and all told has played in 177 league games and 15 FAI Cup games for the Reds.

He left Shels after the 2012 campaign to move from Tolka Park to Dalymount Park joining Bohemians. Delany played all 33 games for Bohemains in the 2014 season and would re-sign again in the 2014 and 2015 seasons as first choice goalkeeper.

Having signed with Bohs for a fourth season in 2016, he faced competition for the starting spot by Shane Supple and now re-joins former manager Owen Heary at Shelbourne eager to get regular first team football.
