Cobh retain a further ten of 2016 squad

Cobh Ramblers have re-signed a further ten of last season's squad as they look to better last season's third-place finish and play-off defeat in 2017.

Manager Stephen Henderson has signed up goalkeeper Paul Hunt, Darren Murphy, Kevin Mulcahy, Jonathan Creamer, Eoin McGreevy, James McSweeney, Cian Kingston, Stephen Christopher, Kyle McNamara and Scot McCarthy.

It brings to 15 the number of players in place, with Ian Mylod, Matthew Whelan, Jason Abbott and Chris McCarthy already committed along with Craig Donnellan, who arrives from Cork City having spent the second half of 2016 on loan at St Colman's Park.

Henderson's young side overachieved last season as they pipped a fancied UCD side to the last play-off place and reached the quarter-final of the FAI Cup where they lost 3-2 away to St Patrick's Athletic.

And with only Shane O'Connor from last season's squad confirmed to have departed, they'll be confident of challenging once again for their first promotion since rejoining the league in 2013.
