Limerick sign experienced trio ahead of Premier Division return

Limerick have announced the signing of experienced trio Brendan Clarke, David O'Connor and Ian Turner.

Goalkeeper Clarke arrives from St Patrick's Athletic, having spent ten seasons at Richmond Park in two separate spells, helping the Inchicore side to the Premier Division title in 2013.

The 31-year-old began his senior career with the Saints, making his debut in 2004 at the age of 19. He spent a period on loan at Sporting Fingal before moving permanently in 2010.

After the club folded, he joined Sligo Rovers for the 2011 before rejoining his Sporting Fingal boss Liam Buckley at Pats the following year.

Clarke will battle it out with Bermuda international Freddie Hall for the Limerick goalkeeper's shirt.

25-year-old O'Connor joins from Shamrock Rovers. The defender spent three years at Tallaght Stadium after joining from UCD, where he worked under Blues boss Martin Russell.

Finally, Ian Turner returns to Limerick following a year at his hometown club, Cork City.

Turner began his career at Turners Cross, making his debut in 2010, before joining Limerick on loan in 2014 before making the move permanent the following season.

The 27-year-old was a standout figure at the Markets Field as the Blues were unable to escape relegation in 2015 and made the move back to Cork but failed to earn a regular starting place despite picking up an FAI Cup winner's medal.
