Jason Caffrey joins Shels, while James English re-signs

Shelbourne have announced the re-signing of last season's top scorer James English and the signing of Jason Caffrey from Bohemians.

Following a season at non-league side Darndale, where he scored 45 goals in the 2014/15 season, English signed for Shels in June of 2015, going on to score five goals in 13 appearances.

The 25-year-old signed back with Shelbourne ahead of the 2016 season, which he finished as top goalscorer with 11 goals in 25 league appearances.

Owen Heary has also signed defender Jason Caffrey from Bohemians. The 20-year-old played for Bohs under 19 side during the 2014/15 season before making four league appearances for the senior team under Keith Long in 2015.

Caffrey remained with the senior squad for the 2016 season but failed to make a league appearance and was limited to just six appearances on the bench.

Caffrey did play in a competitive fixture for Bohemians last season, appearing off the bench towards the end of a 3-1 EA Sports Cup victory over Longford Town.
