Daniels and Boyle sign new Derry City deals

Derry City have announced that local boys Joshua Daniels and Nathan Boyle have signed new deals to the end of next season.

20-year-old midfielder Daniels (shown above) returns for his fifth year at the Brandywell, having made his senior debut in 2014 just aged 17.

The former Northern Ireland under-21 international has made 19 appearances, including seven starts, this season, scoring twice.

22-year-old striker Boyle made his breakthrough to the City set-up this season, appearing 28 times and scoring five goals having helped neighbouring Finn Harps to promotion in 2015.

Manager Kenny Shiels – who himself signed an extension to the end of 2018 last week – welcomed the players' willingness to stay in Derry for another year.

“They are two promising young players,” Shiels told the club's website.

“I would like to get them longer deals and that’s in the process as well. I’m hoping to talk to them again next April or May to extend them even further, but in the meantime it’s great to get them tied up for next season.

“It’s two more Derry boys signed up, which makes ten players signed up for next season and every one of them is from Derry or Donegal.”
