Ledwith and O'Keeffe depart Wexford

Wexford Youths have announced that defenders Danny Ledwith and Craig O'Keeffe have left the club.

Youths announced the news just a day after announcing the signature of Wexford hurling star Lee Chin, a central defender, until the end of the season.

23-year-old O'Keeffe is a former Carlow IT player who joined Youths at the beginning of the season following a short stint with Home Farm in the Leinster Senior League.

Versatile Ledwith, who has played across the back, midfield and in goal during his League of Ireland career, joined from Sligo Rovers at the start of 2016.

The 25-year-old began his League of Ireland career with UCD in 2010 before joining Shamrock Rovers for the 2013 season and moving to Sligo the following season.

His defining moment in a pink shirt came in the Leinster Senior Cup semi-final against Collinstown, when he went in goal for the red-carded Matthew Connor and saved a penalty.

"Danny is a player who has always impressed me,” Wexford boss Shane Keegan said upon his signing last December.

“Technically he is excellent and I think this is a big opportunity for him to really kick on and deliver on the massive potential that he has."
