Watch: Jamie McGrath's stunning goal v Shamrock Rovers

St Patrick's Athletic booked their place in the EA Sports Cup final for a second successive year with a 3-1 win over Shamrock Rovers in Tallaght thanks in part to a stunning Jamie McGrath goal.

The tie was a repeat of last year's semi-final right down to the venue, although moved back a week from the August Bank Holiday date by Dundalk's Champions League clash with BATE.

While the match didn't quite play out the way it did 12 months ago – Pats won that game on penalties after a 0-0 draw – the outcome was the same.

While Rovers were dominant in the first half, and deservedly led through Dean Clarke, Darren Dennehy equalised against the run of play on half time.

And the game swung completely as the Saints put together a patient 10-pass move before Lee Desmond set up McGrath for a spectacular finish to put Liam Buckley's side ahead, before Christy Fagan sealed the win.

They will meet Limerick in the final after the Blues also won away in Derry, and the draw to determine the location of next month's showdown will be made on Wednesday morning.
