EA Sports Cup Quarter-Final Draw Made

The draw for the EA Sports Cup quarter-finals took place on Wednesday and produced some mouth-watering ties, all of which will be played on the Bank Holiday Monday, May 2nd.

After eliminating Dundalk in extra time on Monday night, holders St Patrick’s Athletic now face a trip to Bray Wanderers, who also needed extra time to progress as they stumbled over the line against non-league Bluebell United.

Derry City will have to make the long trip south to Cork City twice in 11 days, as the sides also meet in the league at Turners Cross on May 13. Cork made light work of Waterford United, thrashing the First Division outfit 7-0 to qualify for the last eight, while Derry beat Sligo Rovers 2-0 to book their place in today’s draw.

As the only remaining side in the country with a 100% record, Limerick annihilated Wexford Youths 4-0 and have been drawn at home to last season’s beaten finalists Galway United, who knocked out Finn Harps on penalties.

Shelbourne caused the shock of the second round by beating Bohemians on spot kicks and their reward is another Dublin derby against Shamrock Rovers at Tolka Park. The Hoops easily dispatched Athlone Town 3-0 on Tuesday night.
