Galway United announce friendly against Liverpool XI

It's that time of year again when some of Britain's top clubs get ready to make the short trip across the Irish Sea, with the news that Galway United have announced a friendly clash with a Liverpool XI.

Scheduled to take place in Eamonn Deacy Park on Saturday July 18, with kick-off set for 4.00 pm, a big crowd will be expected to turn out on the banks of the Corrib to watch the English Premier League outfit in action for what's already shaping up to be a fantastic encounter.

Of course, this is not the first time the Reds have made the journey to the west coast of Ireland with supporters getting a chance to see them in action back in 2010 when the Tribesmen emerged victorious on a score-line of 1-0.

Playing for Liverpool under the tutelage of John McMahon that day were the likes of rising stars Suso Fernandez, Jon Flanagan, Andre Wisdom, Tom Ince and Daniel Ayala – so spectators can expect to see yet more prodigious talent in action again.

Tickets for the upcoming match are now on sale from www.galwayunitedfc.ie where you'll also find price details, with further outlets expected to be revealed later on this month. This Liverpool XI outfit will also be taking on Cork in Turners Cross on the 11th of July, while another Liverpool XI selection will be heading to the RSC and the UCD Bowl to take on First Division sides, Waterford United and UCD.

Away from the friendly calendar, United's next Premier Division clash is against Shamrock Rovers following the mid-season break on Friday, June 26.

Tommy Dunne's men will have home advantage for the clash and is expected to push for three points as they aim to consolidate their position in the table.
