League Preview: Dundalk -v- Sligo Rovers

Dundalk

Dundalk will be looking to maintain their perfect start to the season under the watchful eye of the RTE cameras at Oriel Park on Friday night. An impressive 3-0 victory over Bohemians in Dalymount Park on Tuesday night along with another 3-0 win and two 1-0 victories so far means that Dundalk are yet to concede a goal this season.

The good news for Stephen Kenny is that there are no new injury concerns or suspensions.

The Lillywhites go into this game without influential midfielder, Stephen O'Donnell, who remains a couple of weeks away from making his comeback following knee surgery.

Key man, Daryl Horgan, made it clear that Dundalk are not expecting an easy game on Friday when he spoke to dundalkfc.com.

“We are winning our games and we want to continue that. We want to win every game. We go into every game to get the three points and Friday will be no different. Sligo Rovers are a good side, Owen Heary has assembled a good squad of players there and they will be tough to beat but we’re confident and hopefully we can go out and win it.”

Sligo Rovers

A 2-1 defeat to Shamrock Rovers last time out means that Owen Heary is still seeking his first win as Sligo boss. However, it has been a difficult fixture list thrown at Heary and he will be encouraged by the fact that his team have played some good football and have also scored at least 1 goal in all 4 league matches so far. However, a trip to the champions is going to be another major test for his side.

Sligo will be without Jeff Henderson, Richard Brush and John Russell who are all injured. There are no suspended Sligo players.
