Horgan joins up with Galway FC

Tommy Dunne continues to be busy assembling his squad for new club Galway FC for the 2014 Airtricity First Division campaign as he signed a seventh player after Colm Horgan signed for the club on Tuesday.

Nineteen year old Horgan has featured in the Airtricity League for Salthill Devon since 2010, when he made his debut as a 16 year old, and becomes the first of the Seasiders players to sign for the club after six Mervue United player were signed up last week.

Defender Horgan is an exciting young talent and has been capped at various underage levels for the Republic of Ireland. He is also the younger brother of Daryl Horgan who has played with Sligo Rovers and Cork City and is currently rumoured to be signing for Dundalk for 2014.

Horgan is excited about joining the new club who will play their games at Eamonn Deacy Park. “I am really happy to sign.  It is an exciting time in Galway football.  I am looking forward to getting a few results under our belts. Mervue United did very well last season and with a few of the lads that played for Salthill Devon I think we can do well.  There should be a good team in Galway with the talent that is in the county.

“Promotion should be our aim.  When you look around the League of Ireland Galway lads are involved with many of the top clubs so there is huge potential in Galway.”

Dunne has so far snapped up Jason Molloy, Stephen Walsh, Marc Ludden, Noel Varley, Martin Conneely and Paul Sinnott all from Mervue United and will announce further signings in the coming weeks. Sinnott has also be confirmed as club captain for 2014.
